A guide to Medellín, written by Lia and kept up to date
Medellín sits in a valley of cable cars, coffee and mild weather. I write this as a practical guide you can plan from.
A lot of Medellín pages online are either a weekend blog that went stale, or a booking site that wants the reservation and nothing else. I got tired of both. This one says where the hotel actually is, what the 2026 fare was when I checked it, and when I am not sure.
I am Lia, 28, half Colombian and half German, and I edit Medellín Pointer. I love travel, fitness and festivals, and I write the way I talk: warm, specific, and a bit too keen on a morning run before the day gets going. Read the About Lia page if you want the short version of who is writing. The guides cover El Poblado versus Laureles, the ride in from Rionegro, and how to go out without being naive. If I could not verify something, I say so.
How we research
Checked sources
How I research: every guide is built from current, checked sources and updated when things change. Prices and hours move, so each page shows when I last checked it. Some links are affiliate links. If you book through them I may earn a small commission, and it does not cost you extra.
Affiliate, not advertising
Some links earn a small commission when you book, at no extra cost to you. A commission never buys a better ranking.
Updated, not abandoned
Prices, openings and closures change fast. Guides are re-checked and re-dated regularly rather than leaving stale info to mislead people.
