Most of the night happens in El Poblado, around Parque Lleras and Provenza. Laureles, especially La 70, is the more local version. Go out. I would. Just do not leave your drink, do not take a first date back to the room, and book the car home. The US State Department’s 2026 warning is blunt about dating-app robberies and drugging, and I am not going to decorate that into a party tip.
Where to go

El Poblado has the busiest bars. Laureles is more local.
- Parque Lleras: bars and clubs. Crowded, and full of visitors.
- Provenza: cocktail bars and restaurants. Easier to have a conversation.
- La 70 (Laureles): local bars and salsa. This is the night I would pick if I wanted to dance without the Lleras scrum.
August’s Feria de las Flores spills into the evenings too. Same rules, more people in the street.
Safety
The US State Department warns about criminals using dating apps to lure victims, and about drugs such as scopolamine used to rob people.
- Don’t leave drinks unattended or accept them from strangers.
- Meet dates in busy public places and tell a friend where you are.
- Don’t bring strangers back to your room.
- Use a booked car home, not a street taxi.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the best nightlife in Medellín?
Parque Lleras and Provenza in El Poblado, if you want the busy version. La 70 in Laureles if you want something more local.
Is it safe to go out in El Poblado?
The area is one of the safer ones by day. At night the risk is targeted: drinks, dating apps, and the ride home. Handle those three and the night is much simpler.
